Sugandha Rao (b. 1998, New Delhi) is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice draws from personal experience, cultural nuance, and socio-political inquiry.
Sugandha holds an MFA from Kala Bhavana, Santiniketan, and a BFA from the College of Art, New Delhi. Raised in a progressive, cross-cultural household, she developed an early feminist consciousness that continues to shape her creative outlook. Her work navigates themes of gender, identity, and societal structures and landscape, often beginning the process with sketching. She predominantly works with printmaking, painting, and textile-based techniques. Her work seeks to create a bridge between art, craft, design, and community.
Her work has been showcased in Abir First Take 2024, AIFACS, Lalit Kala Academy, New Delhi, SSVAD, Unurum Festival, Orissa, and others. She has been a part of art residency by Kerala Lalitkala Academy (2024), Hampi Art Labs (2024), BPEI (2024), and rendered a workshop at Karigarshala, Bhuj. She has been awarded at AIFACS, scholarships from Kala Bhavan, COA, and SSVAD. She is currently lives and works in Delhi.
